Matt and I are back to work today, after a refreshing week-long vacation of doing almost nothing. Cho held down fort Dalles, while Chico joined us in Eugene from Sunday through Tuesday, spending some much needed quality time with my dad and some old friends (love you guys!). It was nice not having to do anything; we’re refreshed and ready to face the next months of marital bliss couched in daily drudgery.

I’m pretty excited about my new cast-iron Dutch Oven. I’d been wanting one for a while, and bought this as a birthday present for myself. Now I’ve got my eye on a new cast iron skillet…
Wow! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do here…
The garden has exploded. I’m concerned that we’re going to be fined by the department of agriculture for having too many giant tomatoes.
Last night I rode two of Saundra’s horses–what fun! First, I rode Fancy Granite… he and I weren’t communicating very well, and I didn’t get to experience his Tennessee Walker gait. But later, bareback on Raven’s Triple Trouble–Magic! Wow! That gait is absolute heaven. I can’t wait to do it again.
…And will do so next week, on our trip down to McMinnville, where Matt and I will join Ellen and Ron for a Tennessee Walking horse tour of the wineries. We’re really looking forward to that.
And I’m off on another week of vacation this coming week. I’m going to spend some quality time with the garden, and get caught up on some accounting.
